All Academy program trainers are individuals with substantial experience in California labor relations and employment law.

Take one or all of the core Academy programs, in any order. Take all three of the core Academy programs and successfully complete an assignment to earn your CALPELRA Labor Relations Academy Master certification (CLRM). This online core Academy focuses on the legal obligations involved in the duty to bargain, determining which issues are subject to bargaining, and effective planning for bargaining:

  • Duty to bargain under California law, including:
    • Elements of the totality of circumstances test; per se violations including unilateral changes and providing information to unions; effects vs. decision bargaining; remedies for violations of the duty to bargain; and overview of the PERB process.
  • Scope of bargaining under California law, including tests for determining mandatory subjects and how these tests apply.
  • Rules for drafting labor contract provisions.
  • Bargaining preparation and organization.

 

Training Certification And Continuing Education Credits

  • CALPELRA certification
  • 7.5 hours of MCLE credit (general) are offered for this Academy program.
  • 7.5 SHRM PDC's  are offered for this Academy program. (CALPELRA is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits.)
  • 7.5 HRCI credit hours are offered for this Academy program. (CALPELRA is an approved HRCI provider; CALPELRA's programs have met HRCI's criteria to be pre-approved for recertification credit. Use of HRCI's name/seal does not constitute HRCI's endorsement of the program quality.)
