The primary responsibility is to provide excellent customer service when responding to inquiries from employees and the public, and provide generalist support for a variety of human resources functions. The ideal candidate will be an organized,detail-oriented, and collaborative self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills, who enjoy working in a group dynamic.

About the Position:
The HR Technician role will provide a great foundation for a candidate looking to learn and grow in the Human Resources field. The HR Technician handles routine employee inquiries and is knowledgeable about
District policies and procedures. The HR Technician is responsible for processing new hires, separations, and benefits/payroll information with accuracy in the HRIS/Payroll system. Successful performance of work requires a basic understanding of an HRIS system and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of attention to detail. Must have experience with HRIS platforms and is able to quickly learn and adapt to new
technology and information systems. The HR Technician will act as a liaison between employees and contracted benefit providers, assist with open enrollment and provide administrative support for a variety of other programs such as performance evaluations and workers compensation. The incumbent also provides recruitment

Work Environment:This position is part of Administrative Services at the District’s offices in Los Altos, California and will work in an office environment.
 
Education and Experience: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
 
Equivalent to two (2) years of college coursework in human resources or business administration or related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in human resources or closely related function.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel (mid-level) and working knowledge of HRIS/Payroll systems.
 
The ability to write, proofread, and format documents.
 
Knowledge of myCalPERS is highly desirable.
 
An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is highly desirable.
 
Licenses & Certifications Required: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
