Negotiating Pension Benefits, Retiree Medical, And Health Benefits
The Program
This full day program will focus both on understanding the changes in pensions benefits, retiree medical, and medical benefits for current employees under the new Federal Health Care Act and on the practical negotiation and legal issues these complex changes raise.

Learning Style
The program will incorporate a variety of adult learning styles that make the Academy series so popular, including interactive exercises, pre-tests and pre-reading, small group planning, and audio/visual reinforcements.
Trainers
Academy 8 is being developed and will be taught by individuals with years of substantial experience in California labor
relations and employment law, and who have high ratings as CALPELRA trainers. The program will draw on the trainers' most recent public sector experiences.
William F. Kay
CALPELRA Academy Co-Director. Over 40 years of public sector labor
relations and employment law experience representing California public agencies under PERB's jurisdiction.
M. Carol Stevens
CALPELRA Executive Director. Over 35 years of experience representing California public agencies including cities, counties, school districts, transit agencies, and special districts.
Registration Fees
The registration fee includes all materials for this program, a resource book, continental breakfast,
refreshments, and lunch. Hotel costs are not included in the fees and each attendee must make
independent hotel reservations directly with a nearby hotel. CALPELRA will reserve a block of
rooms at a discounted rate whenever possible.
To Earn A Certificate
A Certificate of Attendance will be provided for attendance at each Academy.
MCLE credit and HRCI credit will be available.
