Labor Relations Academy 1 was developed by individuals with years of experience in California labor relations and employment law. CALPELRA has selected established trainers with the highest ratings.

CALPELRA Academy Co-Director. Over 40 years of public sector labor relations and employment law experience representing public agencies under PERB's jurisdiction since PERB's inception.

Who Should Attend Academy 1?

This certification program is designed for human resources/labor relations professionals and city attorneys who work in MMBA, EERA, Dills Act, HEERA, or Trial Court Acts agencies; for anyone who wants to understand the basics of labor/management relations, and for anyone who wants to be prepared to negotiate a comprehensive labor agreement.

Registration Fees

The registration fee includes all materials for this program, a resource book, continental breakfast, refreshments, and lunch. Hotel costs are not included in the fees and each attendee must make independent hotel reservations directly with a nearby hotel. CALPELRA will reserve a block of rooms at a discounted rate whenever possible.

  • HRCI certification

A Certificate of Attendance will be provided for attendance at each Academy. A CALPELRA Labor Relations Master Certification will be awarded upon completion of all three basic Academies 1, 2, and 3, and a final project. The basic Academies may be taken in any order.
